You started out well, however, the points became more and more vague as the essay went on. You have some lines that I had to read over again to make sure the meaning was correct, and then I realized the sentence just needed adjusting, i.e., the “teacher’s grey hair” and “What we desire most, is not always best.”
I also wanted to know where you were going with this essay, was it a student project or are you writing your speech for the student body during graduation?
One more thing, I know for a fact there have been cases of parents that have lost their child just before graduation, that will still attend the ceremony just to see the friends graduate. I would not include the line, “if you try hard in school, you will succeed in life, however if you waste that time, sometimes death is more appropriate.” This could be very offensive…

I only read about half of it, and I found lots of grammatical errors. I don’t have any content advice, but if this is your rough draft, get it checked over thoroughly. I would try and correct it now, but I have homework to do myself. Just some advice. Good luck.

i dont have a ton of suggestions… but amazing advise. it really made me realize that as a sophmore i should really focus on the future more. the 5 min it took me to read it seriously just changed my life. thanks =)

Okay so I read the first two sentences, and I already found a contradiction. You said, “an incurable, relentless itch” then in the next sentence, “The cure?” Besides that, everything else was pretty good.

Primarily for diversification. If the market gets slammed, as some asset classes suffer, others will benefit.

It is a good risk management strategy.

Most, if not all of those benefits can be achieve with just stocks and bonds.

A. Real Estate Benefits: Buy stock/bond of a construction company. Another possibility is to invest in a company that manages commercial real estate properties.

B. Energy Benefits: Again, invest in an energy company. Another possibility is to invest in an energy-oriented mutual fund.

C. Gold Benefits: Same as A and B. Invest in a gold ETF or a gold-oriented company. Many companies make money from the increasing price of gold. For example, gold-mining companies.

D. Other commodities benefits: Same deal. Invest in a company involved with that particular commodity.

You don’t have to get into alternative investments to get any of the benefits listed. Using only traditional investments, e.g. stocks, bonds, mutual funds and ETFs, it is very possible to take a position in those assets.

Alternative investment, e.g. futures/options, are a different animal entirely. The trading procedures, costs are complicated. Only seasoned investors should get into alternative investments.

No body can time the market ? if you mean no body can predict the market, then it is true. But what about all the traders who are making a consistent living trading the market ? There are techniques available, but prediction is not one of them. It can be done, except that Gordon Pape couldn’t do it.

I dont think these paper investments are a good place to invest right now. The returns are so small that they barely keep up with inflation. Glad I have invested in prescious metals for last 4 years and wil continue to hold them until I sense the market has come back from its insanity.

No, It won’t cut down on people using cars. I can’t imagine that I’m going to have a high speed train to where I work which is 19 miles away. Not to mention the fact that it will be run by corrupt politicians and unions so the cost overruns will be massive. Oh, and, by the way, what do we do for the decades that it will take to build? A wise investment would be to use the resources we have. Drill for more oil. It isn’t that hard.

It would be very wise to invest in integrate transportation for passengers and electric cars. High speed would be desirable if cost to build and maintain are reasonable. The very stupid wasteful transportation system we have today is do to first generation of electric trolleys were bough and dismantled by big car and gasoline, so overcome their political clout will not be easy.
