I have been working in US for last 4 years on H1-B visa and my employment based greencard is in process. I am anticipating a greencard within next 2 years. I have invested in mutual funds and employer 401(k). If I decide to return to my home country in coming years (after my greencard is processed), will I be able to withdraw funds from my US 401(k) and other investments (for example – annuities) when they mature? I understand that to return to my home country, I will have to give up my green card. However, will I still have access to my investments in US? are they any legal/tax issues involved? Or is it benefitial/advisable to just liquidate my investments, take penalty hit and take the money home?

What’s the best way to fight global warming?

Hillary would transform our economy from carbon-based to clean and energy efficient, jumpstarting research and development through a $50 billion Strategic Energy Fund and doubling investment in basic energy research. She would also spur the green building industry by funding the retrofitting and modernization of 20 million low-income homes and take concrete steps to reduce electricity consumption, including enacting strict appliance efficiency standards and phasing out incandescent light bulbs.

Recognizing that transportation accounts for 70 percent of U.S. oil consumption, Hillary would increase fuel efficiency standards to 55 miles per gallon by 2030, but would help automakers retool their production facilities through $20 billion in “Green Vehicle Bonds.”

Popular Renewable Energy Penny Stocks

There is no doubt that renewable energy is big news in today’s modern world.  With the need to find energy sources that we can rely on for years to come and not have to worry about them polluting our world, it stands to reason that stocks in this area are going to be popular.  They have the potential to increase markedly in value, so let’s look to see if we can find some potential risers that could prove profitable in the months and years to come.

Renewable energy penny stocks like Carbon Sciences are worth looking at, and indeed this particular one has done well lately.  The last price available at the time of writing was nearly ten and a half cents per share, which was up nearly half a cent since the start of the day.  This company is focusing on trying to convert CO2 into usable energy, and if that takes off it could mean big things for these penny shares as well as for the world as a whole.

Hoboken, NJ (June 2008)—Sure, you’d like to “go green” in your investments. If you could find some financially sound options, why not? As environmental issues have heated up and gained more and more press, you’ve embraced the concept of saving the planet. You’ve changed your light bulbs, strived to live the “reduce, reuse, and recycle” mantra, and even traded in your gas-guzzling SUV for a hybrid. (Well, at least you’ve considered it!) Problem is, you need to feel secure about your retirement years—and the concept of green investing just seems a little too, well, trendy for comfort.

Right now my best conclusions are to get a DRIP Program set up for a spider or mutual fund or maybe even just stocks on the following Backbone Stocks: GE, Goldman Sachs, Proctor & Gamble, Phillip Morris/Altria, AT&T and Exxon/Mobil.

I’m thinking of the DRIP Programs because if the stock I buy stays low, I’m still getting dividends paid to me.

buying mutual funds?

I’m new to investing but about to invest on some mutual funds portfolios but i don’t really understand reading the performance.
There are a few things I notice, “YTD”, “1 YR” “2 YR” etc.
Currently most of the YTD are negative/red but 1 YR are positive/green.
Which one is the most important indicator among these before we buy funds?
I believe everyone objective is gain profits with less risks.

Thanks in advance!!!
Are you saying since this year most of funds are red will be a good time to buy? or wait until even higher red before buying?
Also, is that mean if one funds (let say AAAA already at the peak for the last 3 years, we wont get more?

Green Energy Stocks

It is no doubt that every family owns some electric appliance, such as TV、 PC、lighting、heating、car etc. And many of us are worrying about the power supply. If you want to reduce power burden, you’d better stop what you are doing to set up a Green DIY Energy System.

Green DIY Energy System is a fabulous operating procedure which can direct you how to build your own energy system, for instance, solar panel and wind turbine, in your backyard.

I’m just wondering if this new Cap&Trade legislation is more than meets the eye.

Does anyone know how many congressman have investments in industries that will AUTOMATICALLY begin to make money when mandated use of “green energy” is put into law??

Meaning how many of these Congressman have a conflict of interest?? (Kinda like Chris Dodd’s wife sits on FOUR healthcare company boards, YET Dodd is writing healthcare legislatino)
Oh brother, much thanks for the links!!!!
