Oil prices are spiralling to new records just about each day. In addition, oil is mostly produced in politically unstable parts of the world; this caused problems in the 1990′s and may do so again. Consequently, we may never see oil prices come down or even stabilize.
Because of escalating oil prices, many ventures are being formed to find other ways of creating energy that is friendly to the environment as well as cheap. Alternative energy is becoming the new wave to lessen the demand for oil while helping our environment.

If you’re an investor who is concerned about the impact of corporations on the environment and society, then socially responsible investing (SRI) is a growing sector where you will find securities that fit with your philosophy. SRI is a recognized focus within the investment community.
Socially responsible investments are analyzed on a global scale. The SRI agenda is to promote a set of values which are considered to be ethical and “Earth friendly” by investing in companies which exhibit these values in their corporate structure, in the workplace, in their labor practices, in their concern for the environment, and in their impact on the community (including respect for the rights of native peoples). SRI intentionally excludes certain business sectors which are deemed to be unhealthy for the planet, such as weapons, tobacco and gambling.

My wife and I are both on Social Security.We dont have alot of money,but enough to invest $50 to $100 each month.We are in our early 40′s and would like to have a little nest for the future.I am very green when it comes to investing.I am a little leary about investment firms. I have heard some bad things.Dont know which ones i can trust.I would like a deversified portfolio just dont know how to safely deversify it.Also could you recomend a good book to get me started in understanding the investing world a little better.(stocks,bonds,mutuial funds,401′s,Ira’s)ect…A little advice would be greatly apriciated.
